The Chalet School books

Two updates for you but I have not done as much stitching as I could, my son asked me to reserve him a library book online.  While I was doing it I looked to see if they had any of the books I used to read when I was a child.  My favourite series was The Chalet School.  I could not believe it they had the first two in the series so I reserved them and when I collected the first one I could not put it down.  It was written in 1925 (no I'm not that old LOL the last one was published in 1970) so some of the language made me smile but I really enjoyed it and I have already started the second  Jo of the Chalet School.  Not sure how many of the 58, yes 58 books in the series they have but I will enjoy reading the ones I can.

Here is Autumn House by Bent Creek,

looks a bit crooked but that is just the way the stitching was laying when I took the photo.
Here is my 'A Late Stroll' project, one of the cross stitch kits  from Yiotas xstitch

I would like to have done a bit more on it but as I said reading took a bit of my time.

Fog, fog and more fog

It has been foggy and misty here for what seems like forever.  I's foggy when the boys go to school, when I walk Charlie the dog and even now it is lunchime and you still cannot see very far.  Oh well best stay inside and stitch.

I have two finished projects today
First is Autumn Snow from SanMan Originals

Sorry not a good photo, the fabric is ivory so the snowman shows up a better in real life.

Next is another lovely SanMan Originals design

This one is called Jolly Jumping Reindeer

I'm stitching a Bent Creek design at the moment called Autumn House, then I must stitch a bit more on my 'A Late Stroll' project.

Lime Green Snow

Another one of SanMan Originals tucks

I love these tucks, they are so quick to stitch and nearly always come with a charm.  This one came with the green snowflake.

I have also been stitching on 'A Late Stroll'  one of the cross stitch kits from Yiotas X-Stitch .

It is coming on nicely and I will stitch a bit more on it later in the week.  I want to stitch a few more Chrsitmas ornaments first.

Smells Like Christmas

Smells like Christmas from SanMan Originals.

It was so quick to stitch and came with the heart shaped cookie button.  I have loads more of Sandy's little designs and I am determined to stitch loads before Christmas.

I have also been working on my 'A Late Stroll'  one of the cross stitch kits  from Yiotas-xstitch

The house is stitching up nicely, lots of colour changes but it will be worth it when it is finished.

I am going to try and make up a few more of my stitched pieces into ornaments this week as well as stitching a bit more on 'A Late Stroll'.  I also want to stitch a few more of the little SanMan patterns, they always make lovely ornaments and tucks.

Half Term

Half Term so not as much stitchy time.  I did work on my 'Cowes' and managed to finish most of the bottom left hand corner.  So glad to finish that stone colour.

I am stitching fast trying to finish this piece for Halloween.

It is called 'Home Spooky Home' and is from SanMan Originals.  It came with a very cute hanger and I really want to get it finished in time for Halloween this year.

We went to Dover Castle yesterday one of our favourite places to go and it is less then 30 minutes drive from us.  I know I have posted photo's of the castle before but it is such a lovely place I will post some more.

Dover Castle.  I did not take this photo yesterday, I could not get a good one of all the castle yesterday.  This one I took on one of our other visits but the rest are from yesterday.

View of the Church and Pharos from the Keep.

They have re-created some of the scenes from the Kitchens

They have also changed some of the area's in the War Time tunnels but you cannot take photo's in there but the tours were great.  Well worth visiting if you are in the area.

Update on a Stroll

Just a short post to let you know how I am getting on with 'A Late Stroll'.  One of the cross stitch kits from Yiotas X-Stitch  .

It is stitching up fairly quickly and is a lot easier to stitch then I thought it would be as there are a lot of colour changes.

I also made one of my Christmas finishes up into an ornament for my tree.

It is called 'Decorating the House' and I think it is from a Just Cross Stitch Ornament issue from about 2002.

I am going to work on my 'Cowes' project and hopefully that frog will not come back.

A Late Stroll

Last week I received one of the lovely cross stitch kits from Yiotas Xstitch . Yiota has asked me to review the kit and I will keep you updated on my progress.

It came beautifully packed with all the threads pre-wound onto bobbins.  It uses Madeira thread which is lovely and soft.  The chart is printed onto silky A3 paper and the symbols appear very easy to read and the legend/information sheet is on a separate A4 sheet.  The kit come with 14ct aida, normally when I get a kit I swap the aida for linen but for this review I will stick with the aida.  You also get a needle.

I'm looking forward to starting this and it will be so nice not having to sort out all the threads first.

If you would rather have charts then  cross stitch kits Yiota also sells just the charts which can be brought as either a download or a printed chart sent by post.  The charts have Madeira and DMC thread numbers so if you get just the chart you can choose which thread brand you want to use.

Here is a better look at the picture on the front of the kit, I would love to get it finished by Christmas but I think it may take a bit longer.

Not More Frogs!

Who keeps sending me frogs?  I have had to unpick so many time this week working on the Cowes project that I don't feel like I have done much.  I had to stop and work on something else and then go back and so a bit on it.

I may not have achieved much this week on this one but hopefully next week the frogs will stay away.

Another Halloween finish which luckily was frog free.

This is one more of SanMan Originals newsletter chart/kits.  Sandy makes the best Halloween projects.

I'm hoping to get at least one more Halloween finish before the 31st but I won't promise.  Yoita has asked me to review one of her cross stitch kits  and I will show you all tomorrow which kit I will be stitching

.

More Halloween

Two more Halloween finishes

Two more  SanMan Originals  newsletter kits.  This one is called..........BOO,  don't you just love the hanger.

and Whitching you also came with the cute witch and spider to attach to the stitching.

In the January sales I brought a 3ft. black Christmas tree to hang some of my Halloween ornaments on.  I will try and remember to take a photo of it when I decorate.

I have more Halloween stitching I want to do but I must put a few stitches in my Faye Whittaker Cowes project.  I don't want it to end up in my UFO pile.

Halloween Tucks

Not long now until Halloween, mind you my boys say they are to old to dress up now so looks like it will just be me dressing up to hand out the sweets to the children when they knock on the door.

Here are a couple of Halloween tucks from SanMan Originals

Witchy Hat from the September 2011 newsletter

and

Halloween Cupcake also from the September newsletter

I have a few more Halloween pieces I want to stitch so hopefully I will be posting again soon.

Cowes and Christmas Pillows

Sorry to be so long between posts, not sure where the time goes.

I was supposed to post this picture of my Cowes stitching last week

but time flew and now it looks like this

I have also finished another couple of pieces into pillow ornaments

This one is from Sanman Originals called Christmas Snose

This one I stitched from one of the Cross Stitch Ornament magazines I think maybe 2002, I will have to check.  It is called Peace on Earth

Not long now till Halloween so I must stitch  a few more ornaments and luckily my newsletter parcel from Sandy at Sanman Originals arrived today with lovely Halloween tucks and the cutest pillow tuck.  I think I will stitch the Hat one first.

Tuesday 20 September 2011

Almost finished the bottom section on the right.  I will leave the ground until later, I want to start on the other end of the picture for a while.

Have you seen the Faye Whittaker card making CD and stamps from Joanna Sheen.

I cannot seem to get the link to the CD work properly you may have to cut and paste it

http://youtu.be/t7rYP2w-Y7M

or search Utube for it.  It's a wonderful CD and Joanna has free worldwide postage if you want one.
I have also finished one of my stitdched pieces as a small pillow, this one is for Halloween

It is one of Just Nan's Red Hat stitcher charts.

Bluebell

Well I have finished the beautiful Bluebell.  I just need to find the right frame and the right place on my wall for her.

Here she is

It took me three days to add all the beads and they look fantastic.

I have also finished a couple more ornaments

a cute one from SanMan Originals

This is only 2 inches square

Next one is a Just Nan whimzi

called Christmas Eve.

I have not taken a photo of my Faye Whittaker project as I have stitched a lot of white and it does not really show up very well but I will show you in my next post.

Monday 22 August 2011

Who sent the Frog?

Who sent me the frog?  I had to keep restitching the boy on the right.  I think if I had not promised to send someone the chart when I had finished this may have found its way to my UFO pile.  I stitched on the boy and the wall around him.

and now my lovely Bluebell, this is my favourite stitch.

I love her glittery wings although they are all stitched using Kreinik, not my favourite thread to stitch with.  She is going to look so sparkly when all her beads are added.

Off to do a bit more stitching before bedtime.
